Florida sees recovery in tiny steps
In comparison with the past two years, the economy is no longer in a free fall,
state economists said. Sales taxes, real estate fees and other revenue sources
for the state are inching upward. But the increase is so small -- $56 million
in a budget expected to exceed $65 billion -- that "it's not going to translate
into dollars quickly and certainly not in time" to help legislators this year,
said Amy Baker, head of the Legislature's Office of Economic and Demographic Research.
